Outgrew FreshBooks?
Keep the invoicing, gain the ledger.

Vinance reads your FreshBooks CSV exports (no live connection) and rebuilds your clients, items, unpaid invoices, and opening balances, then adds real double-entry accounting, inventory, bills, and payroll on one platform.

How it works

Detect, plan, review, write.

Vinance imports FreshBooks from its file exports rather than a live connection. FreshBooks can export your clients, items, invoices, and expenses as CSV, and its reports include a Trial Balance for your opening position. You export, Vinance reads, you approve.

Detect

Point Vinance at your FreshBooks exports: clients, items and services, the invoice list filtered to unpaid, and the Trial Balance. It recognizes FreshBooks column names directly.

Plan

Clients and vendors become contacts and dedupe against your company. Items and services map to Vinance items; your account categories map onto a proper chart of accounts you can adjust.

Review

You see the full plan of accounts, contacts, items, and unpaid invoices, with the Trial Balance staged as one opening journal. Change any mapping before writing.

Write

One click writes it all, and the opening journal nets to zero by construction. Import into a scratch company first if you want a dry run.

What you keep

The invoicing habits that made you pick FreshBooks.

What you gain

Real double-entry books behind the friendly screens.

FreshBooks grew out of invoicing for service businesses. Vinance starts from the ledger: every invoice, expense, and pay run posts a journal, so your P&L and balance sheet are read straight off the books. When the business adds stock, purchasing approvals, or a second currency, the platform is already there.

  • Full chart of accounts, journals, and drill-down reports
  • Inventory with valuation flowing into cost of goods sold
  • Bills, purchase orders, and payment runs, all included

Time tracking and billable work carry on in Vinance projects, now posting straight to the same ledger as everything else.

Frequently asked questions

How does Vinance read my FreshBooks data?

From file exports, not a live connection. FreshBooks lets you export clients, items and services, invoices, and expenses as CSV, and run a Trial Balance report. Vinance imports those files after you review the plan.

Do my recurring invoices and reminders carry over?

Recurring schedules and reminder settings are not part of the CSV exports, so you recreate them in Vinance in a few minutes. The unpaid invoices themselves import as open at their current balances and due dates.

I bill by the hour. Does time tracking survive the move?

Yes. Vinance projects track time and budgets and turn billable work into invoice lines, and unlike FreshBooks the entries post to the same ledger as the rest of the books. See projects & time.

FreshBooks did not give me a full chart of accounts. What happens on import?

Vinance maps your FreshBooks categories onto a proper chart of accounts and shows you the mapping in the review step. You can split or rename accounts there, and the Trial Balance lands as one opening journal that nets to zero.

What if it goes wrong halfway?

Run the import into a scratch company first and compare against your FreshBooks Trial Balance. Writes only happen after you approve the plan, and you can clear a scratch company and retry as often as you like.
